I
laid my baby down for a nap in the middle of our bed. I carefully placed
pillows on each side so she would not fall. She was sound a sleep like a
little angel. I looked at the picture of the Holy Mary at the head of
the bed, some how I knew she would always protect my child. The boys
were outside playing baseball so I thought this was a good time to cook
dinner. One of the boys came in the house and through the open door the
ball came crashing in. I heard
glass shatter. It had hit the picture of the holy Mother over the head
of the bed where Midge was sleeping. I screamed, my heart sink knowing
that the picture and glass would be all over the baby. I reached down to
brush away the glass off the baby fearing the worst. I stood there in
amazement, the glass was all around on the pillows and bed as if someone
had carefully placed it. Not one piece was on my baby. I knew from that
very moment the Holy Mother had watched over my baby. True story about Midge, 1933 - Written by Amelia Anne 10/12/00
We were raised in
deep belief, in the Catholic Faith. My mother told me when I was old
enough to understand what had happened that somehow she always knew the Holy Mother would
watch over me.
I can say one
thing, the Holy Mother has been with me all through my life. I am no
angel. I had my ups and downs and I went through all the the stages
of life the same as the other teenage children have. I have wished
many of times I would have listened to more of what my Mother said.
She
always said she felt sorry for us when we started to have children
because at that time things were changing. I was so young I could not
see it, and of course we think we know it all in our teens. I look
back on those days and boy was I dumb.
