Middletown's Friends Assisting Victims Of terroR is a not-for-profit organization created to help those residents of Middletown who have lost an immediate family member as a result of the horrific attack on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. It is our mission to provide our beneficiaries with services, goods and monetary assistance donated by local businesses, Middletown residents and other friends. We cannot bring back their loved ones. However, we hope to assist them so that they may continue in their normal lifestyle.
Although there are other charitable organizations providing assistance, Middletown's FAVOR believes that any funds these families may receive will go to their monthly expenses of mortgages, car loan and other large household debts. Middletown's FAVOR aims to provide those needs first to be cut from a strained household budget. By concentrating on the power of local businesses to donate services and goods, we hope to ease the pain of loss for these families and minimize the otherwise drastic changes to their former lifestyle. In return for a tax-deductible donation, the donor will be provided with a display announcing to the community "We did Middletown a FAVOR." Middletown's FAVOR will exist for a very limited duration, up to six months. We will identify the affected families, request that they complete an application identifying their needs, solicit and distribute donations during this time. Beneficiaries of Middletown's FAVOR will receive 100% of all donations. No one involved with this charity will be compensated in any way for their efforts. In fact, the Executive Board is contributing personal funds, in addition to numerous hours of work, so that none of the incidental or administrative expenses associated with this charity will be incurred by the beneficiaries.
