Every year Little Brownie Bakers' program theme suggests still more
ideas for you to pursue with your troop.

This year's "Mission: Possible" theme with accompanying Sophisticat mascot is perfect for activities involving cats, codes, puzzles, mysteries, scavenger hunts, uncovering things that are not quite what they appear to be, and working as a team to Achieve and Believe.

Refer to your materials from Little Brownie as well as their website

As a leader and cookie manager for many years, I must say that I truly believe in the concept of the cookie program as a valuable learning tool for girls... I have seen first hand the way girls learn life skills while selling cookies without even realizing they're learning!

In addition, the troops that are the most successful during the cookie sale
are usually the ones who embrace the program wholeheartedly.

Please keep in mind that you don't have to do EVERYTHING at once; like other aspects of the Girl Scout program, recognitions earned during the Cookie Program should be done in a progression.  I can say from experience that witnessing that progression as the girls grow and mature from year to year is truly breathtaking and rewarding to a leader!

Try it... I think you'll be glad you did!

Girl Scout Cookies do not exist in a vacuum for only a few weeks every winter.  They do not have to exist separately from your "normal" Girl Scout program and badge activities.  The cookie sale supports the four goals of the Girl Scout program:

Developing Self Potential

- Setting and achieving goals
            - Feeling a sense of worth by contributing to troop success
            - Learning new skills money handling, sales techniques

Relating to Others

- Working with others toward a common goal
            - Relating to the public all kinds of people
            - Achieving personal goals without competition

Developing Values

- Agreeing not to sell before start date
            - Sharing sale territories

Contributing to Society

- Promoting Girl Scouting and its ideals through girls' actions
            - Using a portion of cookie profits for service projects

The Cookie Sale PROGRAM
The booklet "Getting Ready for the Cookie Program" suggests several program links to help you get started.  Some badge and try-it requirements can be met simply in the course of everyday cookie-selling procedures.

Girl Scout cookies and empty cookie boxes can be used
as materials in many badge activities.

Your Middlecreek Service Unit Cookie Manager has a booklet you may borrow that is chock full of badge/cookie links; although this booklet was written several years ago and may be a bit dated, it is loaded with ideas to spark your imagination and help you "think outside the cookie box."

In short, cookies can be an ingredient of your everyday program in addition to being the main focus for a few weeks every year...
You are limited only by the scope of your imagination!
