Morels can be found in the most surprising places. This specimen was growning along a freshly made road in a clump of roots. Morel in roots

Split base morel Sometimes the body will split. I found one (not shown) that had grown a complete double wall of base and head inside of its self.

can be found.
A good large,
fleshy stewing
mushroom.

I will admit that I do not have a clue as to what this is. It looks like a white cotton ball stained with bright magenta ink and grows on a thin brown stalk out of the side of a tree. Unidentified parasite?
CactusI hear that the fruit of this cactus makes a pretty magenta jelly. Since these were on Conservation land, I'll have to try it at another time.
