Players and parents: Recently, tournament hosts have alerted club directors about the complaining and interfering by coaches and fans regarding the refereeing at tournaments and have asked that all clubs remind their teams about good sportsmanship. Please try to pay attention these rules found in the USAV/AAU rulebook:
Section 20.1.2:: Participants must accept referees with sportsmanlike conduct, without disputing them. In case of doubt, clarification must be requested only by the set (or team) captain.
Section 20.1.3: Participants must refrain from actions or attitudes aimed at influencing the decisions of the referees or covering up faults committed by their team.
Director Comment: While these rules are written specifically for the players and coaches, it would do us all well if we would allow the referees to call the match the way they see it. They are not perfect, but they are learning and improving. Please show them grace as they try to do their job.
