Last week: A 5-foot-3 senior libero, Campbell accumulated 22 digs as the Cougars earned a return trip to the Class 1A state tournament in Lakeland with a closely contested four-set regional-final win over Geneva School. Campbell, whose sister, Stephanie, played on MIC's 2004 state-tournament team, has 393 digs and 52 aces this season. Her 742 career digs is second-most in school history.

A quick five with Campbell:

Was the Geneva match tougher than you expected? "It was. They didn't show (the same ability) the first time we played them. I played OK. There are some (moments) I look back on and know I could have done better. But I feel like this year has been my best year overall."

Where will you be in a year? "In college. Probably at Samford University. I went there and looked and my sister is at that school."

What are MIC's chances at the state tournament? "I think we have a big chance. We played (Warner Christian, MIC's semifinal opponent at 10 a.m. Friday) well and took them to four sets. That was big for us and we did it without Erica (Robes, a senior hitter). We've improved a lot over the last few weeks."

Late in a season, where does an often-diving defensive player feel it the most? "My (right) knee. I've had surgery on it. It's kind of constant, but I forget about it when we've playing."

What team is MIC's top local rival? "For me, it's MCC. For Stephanie (Quinn), it's Holy Trinity. I've played club with a lot of those (MCC) girls. Those games have the biggest atmosphere. More fans."
