Lord Butes' bedroom Look how small his bed is! It is believed he was the wealthies man in the world, and that is what he slept on. Apparently his wife has the bigger bed. The ceiling is also covered in mirrors with the cross beams having the name 'John' written in Greek. The designer, Burges, designed this so that 'John' could be seen anywhere in the room. (For St. John)

The 'small' dining room. The centerpiece above the fireplace shows the three angels with Abraham and Sarah. The center of the table has a round hole in it so that, every morning, a grape vine from the gardens would be brought in and placed on the pedastal under the main leaf. The vine would be placed in a special vase on the table so that the family could have fresh grapes at their meals.

The Banquet Hall This room alone used to be the main living area for earlier lords. It contained seven different room, but Burges redesigned it all in the late 1700s. The chimney piece (better picture below) shows Robert the Consul (2nd Norman Lord of Glamorgan) riding into battle with his wife and daughter waving above. Below, in the dungeons, is the Duke of Normandy (son of William the Conqueror), who was imprisoned at the castle for eight years before he died.

Winter Smoking Room Themed 'time', it also showed how much the family appreciated all things medieval. The four corners showed the sun rising, setting, the moon rising, and setting. The different astrological signs were also shown across the ceiling.

Summer Smoking Room Apparently not very interesting, or I was getting bored because I don't really remember being in this room.

Ceiling of the Arab Room Unfortunately this is the only picture I could find of the room and it doesn't do it justice. The Arab room was, by far, the best. The ceiling is the first thing you notice and, from the picture, it looks like a drawing. It's not, though, and very three dimensional. Around the walls were display boxes and cases. Apparently one of the women collected figurines and would make something along the lines of a glass minagerie in the room.
