An event in Memory of Richard Sandbrook

Jane Smart (from IUCN) and Liz Radford (from Plantlife) will swim across Lac Léman on August 18th in memory of Richard Sandbrook – an incredible man and great friend who worked for over 25 years in the field of conservation and sustainable development, and who was passionate about plants.

They are asking friends and colleagues for sponsorship for this event - donations will go to one of Richard’s favourite charities – an NGO called Water Aid. Water Aid works to provide water and sanitation for the world’s poorest people.

To us Richard was a man in a million: charismatic, funny, sharp and irreverent. To raise money through swimming seemed most appropriate, because Richard was also passionate about boats and sailing. If he were alive today, no doubt he would have joined – but on top of the water in a sailing boat.

If you wish you can donate on line at http://www.justgiving.com/genevaswim

Thank you very much
