Director: Alfred Hitchcock
Starring: James Stewart, Kim Novak
Hitchcock blamed Stewart's age for the lack of financial success of this film. However, it is considered to be one of Hitchcock's four masterpieces (North by Northwest, Psycho, and Rear Window are the other three), all four being well in the IMDb top 50 and the AFI list. (However, Vertigo is the fourth Hitchcock on both of these lists.) I must be frank and state that I didn't find any of the performances especially inspirational. Nevertheless, the master of suspense is in top form and this can be seen easily by watching the film.
Directing: The master of suspense is at his best with interesting and meticulous shot creation.
Acting: Good but nothing great. A little overdone in both of the lead characters.
Writing: Twisting and turning, though not totally unpredictable. Great Hitchcock material.
