So far in my film-watching career, there has only been two times when I wanted to watch the film because of the plot. It would have been three had I known the plot of Sliding Doors before I watched it. The two were Groundhog Day and this one, Second Time Lucky. At the time of writing, the former is in my Top 50, while the latter is in my Bottom 50.
I might as well mention the plot, since that was what drove me to watch it. God and Satan have a wager, with Satan saying that humans will make the same mistakes if everything started over. God accepts the challenge, with the loser effectively facing eternal death. It sounds rather promising, as God sends someone to find an Adam, while Satan finds an Eve. But then, hell (excuse the pun) breaks loose. What eventuates is a dull, corny, B-Grade soft-porn movie. It is very obvious that, because the lead actress bares her breasts often, and most of the time without need.
It wasn't just the Garden of Eden (Round One), but also Rome, the Great War, and other eras, including Al Capone.
There are very lame attempts at humour. God says, "God dammit!" Then he says, "Oops," and covers his mouth and looks up innocently. Look up at where!? He is blaspheming himself, of course. The is also the over-glamourising of the cast. Roger Wilson, playing Adam, is a clumsy nerd who has a six-pack.
