Hitchcock was perhaps at his directing pinnacle in Psycho, but in coordination with a more complex plot, even a lesser-achievement in directing results in a superior film in North by Northwest. This film was perhaps the basis for the Bond series, with From Russia With Love holding many resemblances to this thriller. North by Northwest has passionate romance, intense suspense, comic lines, sophisticated characters, and what have become famous scenes. From Russia With Love borrowed the crop-dusting plane sequence, a good deal of the character and situation of the female lead, the tension on the train, just to name a few.
