Guess Who's Coming to Dinner

(My Top 100)

Year: 1967
Rating: (out of )
Rating: 9.4 (out of 10)
Director: Stanley Kramer

1967 was quite a year for films, with the likes of The Graduate, Cool Hand Luke, Bonnie and Clyde, In the Heat of the Night, and The Samurai. Guess Who's Coming to Dinner won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay, and rightfully so. I think that it has some of the most intelligent and flowing dialogue ever written, while at the same time being humorous. In its time it was a very controversial film tackling the issues of inter-racial marriages. Though the subject is not hotly contested anymore it has not by any means completely disintegrated, hence the subject of the film is still relevant today.
