A touching tale of undying love. A few light moments for comic relief, but it would be more appropriate for the audience to bear sad smiles than taking pleasure from the humour. Beautifully directed by Minghella, reminscent of the lush, sweeping prose of Ondaatje's Booker Prize-winning novel.
