Citizen Kane

(My Top 100)

Year: 1941
Rating: (out of )
Rating: 9.2 (out of 10)

Citizen Kane has one of the greatest feats in directing and cinematography, probably second only to Schindler's List. It is the brilliant work of Orson Welles at the age of just 25, and I'm sure I don't need to convince anyone that it is a great film. In fact, my rating of 9.2 will offend some, if not many, people. What I thought it lacked was a great plot. It had a good plot, but it was missing a great one for such exceptional directing. IF, and that's a big IF, the scoring system for films is out of 5.0 for directing, 3.0 for plot/screenplay, and 2.0 for acting, then I would award Citizen Kane about 5.0, 2.4, 1.8.
