The Assignment

(My Top 100)

Rating: 8.8 (out of 10)

Directing: This is Christian Duguay's (Live Wire) forceful thriller. It unfortunately survived only a couple of weeks in the US, although Ebert also awarded it . The action sequences are very suspenseful. Perhaps too much sex for such a excellent thriller. The opening and the ending are great.

Acting: Aidan Quinn does very well in two roles. Donald Sutherland and Ben Kingsley are their usual, commendable selves.

Writing: The writing borrowed the hospital victims scene from The Third Man. Nicely compact plot, but again, too much sex.
