The Age of Innocence

Year: 1993
Rating: (out of )
Rating: 8.4 (out of 10)
Director: Martin Scorcese

I'm probably the only person in the world who thinks The Age of Innocence is Scorcese's best film. Reason? I don't like Scorcese. By making that intial statement, I am saying that this period film is superior to his powerful, influential modern classics Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, and GoodFellas. Just in case you think that your eyes are playing up, I repeat: yes, personally I think The Age of Innocence is better than all of them.

Directing: The Age of Innocence is quite a feast for the eye. The colours are bright and the cinematography adept.

Acting: Daniel Day-Lewis provides quite a performance, as with Michelle Pfeiffer. Winona Ryder is slightly weaker, but effective.

Writing: Not much to say other than well written.

Others: Costume and set designs are captivating.
