My teaching style tends to be structured and informal. I encourage students to feel relaxed. I do this because if students enjoy the lab, there are fewer tardies and misses. I expect you to take notes and ask questions as needed, but too many questions and goofing around will decrease the effectiveness of my teaching. At all times you need to respect me as the instructor, but this is especially important as I explain material; at that time, the lab needs to be QUIET and the focus needs to be on me.

I expect you to have read the material before attending lab. Often, there will be four or five minutes at the start of lab where I'm answering questions about test results or homework assignments, handing back papers, etc. If you couldn't read the material before, READ IT THEN.

Part of the goal of the lab is to teach you how to analyze things, to determine why each part of an experiment was included, and what it means. That ability is a VERY important part of science in particular, and an excellent life skill to have. If you're confused, come see me, and I'll explain the material to you until you understand. It is your responsibility to request additional help.
