Media Prep's Responsibilities: It is the responsibility of the Media Prep personnel to make sure that the carboys (large plastic containers of liquid) have alcohol, acid-alcohol, distilled water, etc. available. They are also responsible for making sure that we have enough media of the correct type available; it is not their responsibility to clean up messes.

It is the responsibility of the maintenance crew to sweep the floors and make sure our lab items (gas outlets, faucets, etc.) are in good working order. However, the responsibility for keeping a lab clean rests with the students and the TA. If you spill or splash something, clean it up. If you use a piece of equipment, make certain that it's cleaned well before putting it back. Keep the sinks scrubbed and stains lifted from the floors, refill the water and alcohol bottles on each table, and bring any stain bottles that are less than half-full to the front table (TA's bench) at the end of the lab so that they can be refilled. At the end of the semester, you'll be responsible for leaving the lab in good condition for the next class; from sorting caps to cleaning iodine stains off the fronts of the counters to scrubbing out sinks. I'll help with the cleaning, and make sure that everyone pitches in a fair amount of effort. If we work throughout the semester to keep the lab clean, it should be a matter of minutes on the final day of lab to wipe down drawers, sort items, clean the glass on the incubators, etc.
