               For those of you who have been fans of my books, you know that there are certain social issues that have been important to me for the last fifteen years and that           I've tried to bring focus to in my novels – globaleducation, veteran support, animal causes, Alzheimer's awareness, and childhood disease research and care.Over           the years, my family and I have donated nearly $10,000,000 to local, regional and national causes, while fund-raising and administrative expenses have been kept to           less than 1% of that total.
