Who me?  Why Im Donna, your new Lay Director for 2006.  No thats not right!  Im Donna Bursey, Walk 272, Elizabeth Table.  Thats more like it.  What? you say!  Why shes just a baby.  Thats right!  I am a baby a baby Christian and so very glad I found The Way.  This baby has come such a long way in the past year that old friends might not recognize her. New friends sometimes see an inexplicable sparkle in her eyes that wasnt there the day before.  The difference in old Donna and new Donna is Christ found me where I was and now Im growing up in a Christian Community where love is central and caring people are all around me.  I have been blessed beyond words with generous Christian friends who help teach me and keep me accountable.  And isnt that what Emmaus is about fellowship, faith with grace and trust with accountability?  I feel so privileged to have the opportunity to step to the front of the room and share in Christs Love with each of you as we begin the New Year as the Lords children in our wonderful Emmaus community.

I come to you all as a new leader with an open heart and open mind, perhaps a little naive, a little green, but with a willingness to serve and share in fellowship of the heart.  As I am still learning you will certainly be part of my growth and perhaps share my excitement on this journey.  As we move forward toward our ultimate destination and perfect wisdom in Christ, lets share our joys, our mistakes, our sorrows and our triumphs as Christ shows the way.  Let us love one another and lift each other up in true Christian fellowship.  Please know that what I lack in years of Christian teaching and leadership I will make up for with enthusiasm and trust that Christ will hold my hand and lead me where He wants me to go.  2006 will be a time for us to strengthen our Faith and a time to share our life experiences and 4th Days.

Let me share my favorite thought with you.  I have this taped everywhere and engraved on my heart.  I believe it was His promptings (and a little shove from Teresa Trusner) that led me to this new opportunity to serve the Lord as Lay Director for this community.   Being led by the Holy Spirit involves the desire to hear, the readiness to obey God's Word, and the sensitivity to know the difference between my feelings and His promptings.   Daily I strive to be still and listen (though not always successful).  I pray for the willingness and strength to obey, and always for the wisdom to understand when it is His will and not mine that must be followed.  This is the journey I seek.

Please join me in fellowship at 7:00 pm, January 3rd for the first Gathering of 2006.  Lets celebrate the New Year with joyous music, a long awaited 4th Day talk from Teresa Trusner and praise to the Lord as we join hands at His table to rejoice in the Holy Spirit and be made new. Blessings to all and DeColores!

Donna B.

And a special note to allas each of us has different spiritual needs at different times, please know that the prayer rail will always be open after the Gathering ends with Communion and praise.  We should always make time to pray with and for one another.  If you would like a partner in prayer, there are many of us who would welcome the opportunity and feel blessed if asked to share in your prayers.
