Terrys progress report
Tuesday February 20, 2007
Today is final surgery day (we hope). Dads surgery is scheduled around 2 pm. They didnt get him down there until around 4:30. The surgery is completed around 9 pm. The orthopedic surgeon comes out to give us an update. Everything went really well the worked on the backside of his pelvis first putting in pins, rods, and screws. Then they flipped him over and worked on the front side. They had to reattach the fixator - it had become loose. They put a steel plate in his arm and finished the work on his left leg. The fixator will have to stay in for 8 to 12 weeks. It is an outpatient procedure to have it removed.

I think that the doctors are going to start to bring him out of the coma by reducing his meds. We are all waiting for this. It seems that Terry's pain is very controled for now. The doctors had a mold of his upper body made during one of his surgerys so that he could sit up to help keep his lungs cleared.

Terry started to come out of his sleep and could carry some small talk it was great to hear him talk even if it was alittle chopped up.
