Celtic Football team are my favourite team in the world, and they are my passion in life, and I was so glad to see them challenging in europe last season and have just booked themselves a place in the Champions League this season.
I think the key to Celtics success this season has been through the hard work of the players and the manager Martin O'Neill. Martin O'Neill was an instant hit at Celtic Park by winning the treble in 2001 and went on to win back to back league titles. He is a contender for Celtics best manager ever although he will have a hard task in front of him if he wants to pass the likes of Jock Stein CBE.
Celtics players are the most hard working players I have ever seen, they have worked the full 90 minutes every game and thanks to their determination they are starting to get trophies. Without a doubt Celtics most influencial player is Henrik Larsson, Larsson broke the record for most goals in a season by scoring 53 goals and recieved the European Golden Boot for his troubles, he also got nominated for World Player of The Year were he finished 14 which is quite an achievment considering most of the world think Scotland is a Mickey Mouse league. With that in mind Celtic are far from a one man team, they have talent all over the feild in the shapes of Petrov, a young midfeilder with amazing talent and has also captained his country internationally, Lobumir Moravcik, an old but wise attacking midfielder who's talent surpasses those of us mere mortals, Lubo can use both feet to control, shoot and play inch perfect crosses with the ball, but sadly Lubo has left Celtic park, he will be sadly missed and forever remembered. It is not just Foreign players Celtic have in their ranks there are many home grown talents as well, these include Paul Lambert, Jackie McNamara, Tom Boyd, Robert Douglas, Shaun Maloney and Stephen Crainey, who most of play regular first team football and have all been called up for International duty.
Celtic have a long history and I think that all Celtic fans will tell you about Jock Stien's 60's and 70's era were he won 9 titles in a row which has never been beaten but equalled recently by Rangers, he won the European cup, an achievment never equalled in Scotland and were the first British team to win it in 1967. But sadly Jock Stein was involved in a car accident in 1975 almost killing him which resulted in him missing a year at Celtic, many people said he never recovered mentally but still enjoyed a bit more success with the Leugue flag and Scottish cup
The current Celtic should look at that as inspiration and realise that they are able to equal these records. |
