FRANZ JOSEPH GLACIER, WEST COAST
there were only a few things i REALLY wanted to do in new zealand,
and taking an 8 hour hike up one of the glaciers was one of them.
equipped with ice axes and a rendition of crampons,
your group and your guide fearlessly tramp up the face of the glacier,
walking over ladder straddled crevasses, wandering through ice caves,
and trying not to fall in 3-foot deep, freezing cold, water filled holes.
the company we went with was called Franz Joseph Glacier Guides,
and they supplied all the gear (including socks, gloves, boots, crampons, and waterproof jackets).
it was a really great experience, and i totally recommend it.
they even give you a little certificate at the end
that you can proudly display for all your fans.

 the hard-core iceTalonz glacier grips

the excitement of the ice cave

walking on down...'watch out for that crevasse!'
