KAKADU N.P., NORTHERN TERRITORY
The real reason i even came up to darwin is because
i have always wanted to go to Kakadu National Park.
i finally got my chance.
i knew i would see tons of cool wildlife
and spend most of my time beating away mosquitoes and bushflies.
The insects, although prevalent, were nothing compared
to how intense their populations get during the wet season,
so  i was pretty much spared.
Kakadu was a great national park -
most of it only accessible by 4 wheel drive
(and no paved roads at all).

i saw SO many crocodiles -
salties are the big, alligator like ones that will eat people;
freshies are smaller and mostly eat smaller animals - like possums and rabbits.
the waterfalls we visited are closed for part of each year
because during the wet season salties get up in them,
and the rangers have to have them removed.
there was still a risk of salties at Twin Falls,
so that is why we only went to Jim Jim.

we also saw a lot of Aboriginal art - so close you could touch it!
(but we didn't cause that ruins it).
i also got to try some traditional bush tucker -
wild passionfruit and the stems & seeds of the water lily.
