and so it goes...
by the time the squash tournament came around,
amanda had fed jodie and i enough beers
to actally convince us that we should PLAY
(never mind that we had never really played before).
we met amanda's squash friends and her prodigies
(louise and her extra teeth, jane and her diligent organizers),
and we practiced playing, swinging, and serves
(well, we practiced once...).
I think i did fabulously - scoring a total of 4 points in my 2 games.
There were perks to heading out to kalgoorlie:
it is largest gold producer in australia,
and you could even tour a working underground mine.
But who am i kidding, kalgoorlie is known for its working brothels!
it is even home to the only bordello in the world
that conducts guided tours of its premises - Langtrees.
Some of the brothels were literally just tin sheds
where the women hung out the doors alluring men in.
But Langtrees was Heidi Fleish-ing it all the way
with themed rooms (the gold mine room, the roman orgy room, the
sports room, etc)
and a $300 per hour price tag (ouch!).
The male to female ratio in kalgoorlie is something like 25:1,
so even going to the local pub felt a little....peculiar.
(especially when you have bright red hair).
