MICK'S BIRTHDAY!
MELBOURNE, VICTORIA
For my birthday, the Michaels and I
got tickets to go and see
Puppetry of the Penis
- the twisted show of genital origami.
It was actually really funny - not raunchy at all -
more like your older brother doing stupid things
to entertain and
amaze his friends.
Michael #2 ended up having a really bad day at work
and decided
not to come,
but Michael #1 and i hit the show
at the beautiful Forum Theatre
in downtown Melbourne.
The ceiling of the theatre was painted like the night sky,
and there were stoic Roman statues
adorning the balconies and looking
down upon us.
All the people at work knew it was my birthday
(because i can never keep that very important fact to myself).
They bought me a cake and spent morning tea singing to me
and giving me lamingtons
(small coconut, jam, and chocolate
cakes) and lollies (candy).
They gave me an all-office signed card and free movie passes
(which i later used when my American friend,
Keith, came to Australia
so we could see the film Ned Kelly,
starring Heath Ledger
and Orlando Bloom,
documenting the life
of the infamous Aussie bushranger/criminal).
