WARRNAMBOOL, VICTORIA
The week teaching at Deakin Uni was really great!
i got to meet a lot of really cool people - even got some invites to come back.
i spent my days hanging out at the beach and the rock pools of the rocky intertidal
while checking out some interesting Australian invertebrates
(an elephant snail which is as big as both your hands cupped together).
My lecture went really well also.
i talked about the research my laboratory group was doing
at the National Marine Fisheries Service in New Jersey.

i got this particular position because in November
i researched all the different universities in melbourne and their faculty departments,
and i emailed all the professors and scientists working in my field.
A few people actually got back to me, including Alecia Belgrave from Deakin Uni.
The students, working in groups, had to design their own experiments
and then conduct them in the field.
It was a great way to familiarize myself with different marine organisms
from Southeast Australia.
