The Ultimate Insiders Guide to the Disneyland Park
- Connect the Dots and Dashes - The tapping you hear at the New Orleans Square Train Station is Walt Disney's speech on Disneyland's opening day - in Morse Code.
- Bringing Up Baby - A Geust Communications Cast Member offers this one piece of must-take advice for parents: Get a photo taken with Mickey Mouse at his house in Toontown; you'll cherish it forever.
- Hail to the Chief - While riding the Matterhorn, look for camping equipment labeled Wells Expedition. The gear did not belong to Frank Wells, but it pays tribute to his adventurous spirit. The late Disney president, an avid mountain climber, died in a helicopter accident in 1994.
- The Tarzan Workout - The miles walked by a typical Disney guest might be exercise enough, but hard-core hardbodiew might want to try a few circuts on the 139 stairs at Tarzan's Treehouse.
- Go Right, Young Rider - If you have a choice of lines at Disneyland's Space Mountain (currently under refurbishment), take the one on the right. There's more to view on your way to the launch pad.
- Take Five - Some of the Guest Jockey's choose to end their tours in New Orleans Squiare at the upstairs patio adjacent to the Disney Gallery. It's quiet, cool, and at the enterance there is a great view of the park. Hardly anyone knows about it -- but any park guest can use it.
- Meet Me on Main Street - The best meeting spot in Disneyland is by the flagpole at the end of Main Street, according to Guest Relations. The flagpole is highly visible, and directions are simple from anywhere. Another bonus -- it's a breeze to get to: just hop on the train from wheever you are, and you're practically there.
- Get Discovered - If you're angling for a role isn the Parade of the Stars, talk to the folks in the blue-cloud overalls at ecah end of the route.
- Secrets of the Pyramids - The "maraglyphics" in Indiana Jones Adventure spell out hidden messages; to decipher them, you have to crack the code. Hint: the backwards "7" in the message represents the leter T; the symbol that looks like a question mark stands for a Q.
- Oh, Say Can You See? - For a one-of-a-kind view of Disneyland, try to grab the front seat in you Spash Mountain log. At the top before the big drop, keep your eyes open -- you'll be treated to a spectacular view of the park.
- Hot Ticket - To nab the best seats for Disneyland's FANTASMIC!, show up about two-and-a-half hours early. Head for the seating on the grass in front of Cafe Orleans. Contrary to popular belief, the back row is actually the best because the frow may be obstructured by the railing. If you get there later, about 20 minutes before show time, stand behing the center light tower where the Stage Manager sits. Nobody stands there because they tink the view will be blocked. But before the show the tower rises up, and you've got a prime viewing spot. Procarsinators should head toward the Haunted Mansion. Taht's the palce that fils up last and you can see all the way to Fowler's Harbor, where the big boats park. If you feel like a) splurging and b) planning ahead, you can reserve preferred seats. For $41.00, you can get seats on the balcony at the Blue Bayou restaurant outside the Disney Gallery. Dessert and Coffee are included.
