England
The Trip of a LIFETIME!
pg. 2

This is Battle Abbey.  The Battle of Hastings in 1066 was fought very near here and in fact you can see the area from the Abbey grounds.

This is in the town of Battle ... and this Abbey has come to be known as Battle Abbey ...  how unique!  It is a marvelous thing to see and was another of his MUST SEE spots!

Have you heard of the "Canterbury Tales" ... and have you heard of Canterbury Cathedral?  Well this is a street in Canterbury and in the background you see Canterbury Cathedral.

As mentioned before, I can't walk much, and there was just no way to drive close to the cathedral ... you had to walk.  So I grabbed this shot as we were driving through town.  You can see how narrow this street is ... and this is the normal width for most streets in England.  WOW!

Here he is peaking at us at Land's End in Cornwall.

This is the extreme furthest point in southwest England in Cornwall.

Morris Dancers performing at Pendennis Castle.

This isn't the castle ... it was to the back of me while taking this picture.  This is one of the buildings in the compound.

While my husband wanted to see these dancers, he had no hopes of doing so.  This was Easter Sunday and we just happened to be in luck when we went to see Pendennis Castle.  He was THRILLED to say the least!

Another of our MUST SEE spots was an owl sanctuary on our way to Cornwall.  I can't begin to say how much we enjoyed it.  It simply was one of  best highlights of the whole trip.

You could watch owls in flight up close and personal and you could pet any of the many different types that you wanted to ... all you had to do was ask!

This is my friend the Horned Owl.

Raglan Castle in Wales .... on a VERY rainy day!

This is a magnificent window that is being restored.  The whole castle is in ruins ... but it is still fantastic.  On this day, because of the rain, we virtually had the whole place to ourselves.  Sitting in the rain I could easily imagine being a part of the life here, oh so many years ago!

This was taken out of our hotel window at Gatwick Airport the night before we flew back home.

The beautiful sunset and the plane taking off made this shot PERFECT!

I'm sorry our stay in England had to come to an end ... I'd love to be there still.  But, alas, the real world once again intruded on our lives and we had to come back to the rest of our lives.

I have to thank our son Derek for making this trip possible ... it was a wonderful gift.  I don't know if he knows just how much it meant to us .... but quite simply ..

IT DID.
