Mickel von Salm - at a glance
My range of interests (both SCA-related and modern) are quite wide.  Here are some of the areas that I devote my time to:

Early Music - I sing in an a capella ensemble, and I play the recorder (sopranino through bass) in a Renaissance dance band.  I'm now working on learning classical guitar.

Period Dance - With the help of several friends, I'm studying various dances of the 15th, 16th & 17th centuries, in conjunction with the dance band I take part in

Embroidery - I'm most interested in the more geometric 'counted' forms (blackwork, pulled & drawn work, hardanger, German counted-thread, Assisi, etc)

Costuming - My primary area of interest is 16th century German women's clothing, covering the range from a workingwoman's outfit for puttering about the camp to more elaborate ensembles appropriate for Court

Knitting - I've been discovering how extensive knitting was as a cottage industry during the Renaissance

Lacemaking - I'm very new to both bobbin lace and needle lace

Spinning - I learned to spin my own yarn hand-in-hand with my first period knitting project, and for future SCA projects, I don't think I'll use anything else

Calligraphy - I've begun with Chancery Italic, for which I found a 16th century reference guide to follow

Archery - Not exactly a project per se, but certainly worthy of the time and concentration I'd devote to any of the above, especially as I struggle to keep my Royal Round average within Master Bowman rank

Fencing - Again, not exactly a project, though I treat any match much like a cross between chess and dance
