SKILLS: Programming languages - Pascal, HTML, C, C++, Borland Visual C++, VisualBasic, Matlab, DeltaV Control Software, Microsim Eval 8, Code Warrior Metrowerks Pro 4, Assembly language (Motorola 68000), Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows/NT Server & Workstation, UNIX, VAX, AS400, and a working knowledge of AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel and Access. Lab Experimentation: This included experimentation with various analogue, digital, electricaland computer based principles and techniques. Such experiments included the construction, analysis and testing of various circuits and microprocessor based programming. Final Year Project: As part of our final year we are required to complete a project. The project is titled Image Processing Tutorial Package . The objective of this project is to create an interactive image-processing tutorial program in Matlab, which will be allow the user to grasp the intricate workings of image-processing algorithms, image-processing techniques and will display these effects on the images. It allows the user to develop personal algorithms or change the characteristics of existing algorithms. RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE: Hormans Electronics Ltd., Mahon industrial Est., Cork June September 1997 & June September 1998 Role: For two summers at Hormans Electronics I worked as a technician involving the use of test equipment, programming EPROMs, debugging of failure boards, and providing failure analysis in the form of target sheets. Institute del la Mar, Barcelona, Spain April July 1999 Role: A project based work experience, whereby the objective was to create an interface using Borland C++ to display instrument readings for a sea probe used totake measurements varying from oxygen content to radioactivity in sea water. This involved creating the Graphical User Interface, controlling the serialport, the source of the information from the probe and created real-timerepresentative graphs of the values from the probe. This provided great insightinto real time programming, working with serial information and developingGUIs. SmithKline Beecham Ltd., Ringaskiddy, Cork April September 2000 Role: I worked in a number of different areas within the company gaining experience in many areas from instrument field testing/calibration, test/simulationand debugging of batch processes, writing process control software, designeda help program for process operators and writing validation documentationon different elements of the process. INTERESTS: My personal interests include reading fiction, motor sport, soccer and rugby.
