Veronica Wipes The Face Of Jesus
V. We adore You, O Christ, and we praise You.
R. Because by Your Holy Cross You have redeemed the world.
Suddenly, the march to Calvary stops. A woman comes forward--her name is Veronica. She takes a cloth and begins to wipe Your face and to clear away the sweat and the blood. She offers a little comfort. And because of her kindness, You leave upon that cloth and imprint of Your face. Even when You are about to die, You continue giving to those who will accept You.
V. The Lord be with you.
R. And also with you.
Let us pray:
O God, teach me to give a little of myself to someone who needs me. Teach me to go out of my way and help even when I am not asked. It takes a lot of strength to be like Veronica--to offer help when you will be laughed at by the others in the crowd. But help me be like her--that is what it means to be a Christian. Through Jesus Christ our Lord.
