There are two major awards given each year in the United States for children's literature. These are the Newbery (for best writing) and the Caldecott (for best illustrations). The links below will take you to the websites for those awards where you can learn about the award, as well as see the winners from this and many years past. Also included is a link to the California Young Reader Medal site. Students all over California give their input as to which of the year's nominees should be chosen for the award. Those votes are due from participating schools at the beginning of April and shortly after that, the winners are announced. |
