I am nearly 10 years old and in Room 2 at Woodleigh School. My best friend at school is David Joffe. He's not in my class, but we always make up great games to play at lunchtime. We're learning about musical instruments at the moment, and we have to put a band together and write a song. My band is a bit disorganised, but we're doing OK.
I've just discovered how to catch eels in the river at the back of our garden. I usually go with Olivia from next door, and we take a line with a hook on it and some meat. They are really big eels and pretty heavy to carry home. When they come out they wriggle around alot so you have to hit them with a stick. We cooked the first one on the bbq so everyone could taste it. We don't have a smoker but it tasted good from the bbq. My favourite show on TV is "Man vs Wild", where this guy gets dropped off in the wilderness somewhere with only a penknife and flint. I'd love to have his job! |

I am 7 and a half and my classroom is Room 12 at Woodleigh School. My best friend is Jack Krutz and we always do crazy-as stuff together. I really like to jump on the trampoline and draw cartoons, and make crosswords and things like that. I wrote a story at school about my Grandad and it was 2 whole pages long! I also like reading. I played soccer this year and my team was called Moturoa Galaxy. I scored a few goals, but my coach says I am a champion tackler. I always end up with muddy legs from doing big slides to get the ball.
I like to cook dinner at home. I write a fancy menu and give it to everyone so they can see what we're having and sometimes they get to choose what kind of dessert they want. It's really fun. And I can make pancakes by myself without any help from an adult.

I'm Flynn and I go to Woodleigh School now. I am learning to read and I am a great writer because I know how to sound out words. I have lots of friends at school, especially Sophie who sits next to me, and Ella, because anyway I knew her before I even went to school. We are learning about road safety and I know what the diamonds on the road mean. I really like to do drawings and I do especially good ones of people.
On the weekend we went on a helicopter ride. It was just great. The helicopter flew over our house and I could see our trampoline and Chris was in his garden. When we flew over the hospital I knew what it was because I've seen it in the book about the rescue helicopter bears. I also got a prize at the school gala which was a jar of eyeball soup which was green slime with little eyeballs in it but I don't think they were real eyeballs! |
