                                                OCTOBER 2002 NEWSLETTER

 

The general club meeting is set for Thursday October 10, 2002 at 7:30 p.m..  The meeting will be at  Commissioners room A 1200 Telegraph road Pontiac, MI.

 

Jonathan Oakes is maintaining our web site.  The address is http://www.geocities.com/michiganbassbusters/.  In the future he will e-mail all members, and we won’t mail out newsletters.  You can e-mail Jonathan any information or pictures to [email protected].

 

Congratulations to Tim McCafferty, the 2002 Mr. Bass.  Tim had a fantastic year of fishing!  In addition to winning Mr. Bass, he won the Golden Rule on Kent Lake and the 2002 Harry Hoffman Classic.  Son!

 

Congratulations to Jason Johnson & Rob Wing.  They made the State Fish-off Team, finishing 10th & 13th respectively.  Bad weather closed off Lake Michigan, and the fishing was tough.  Despite these conditions, our club fished well.  Congratulations to all who fished.

 

Congratulations to Ed Schiller, Don Schemanske, Jerry Doucette, Paul Sacks, and Jay Berwick.  They qualified to fish the NBAA classic on Lake Chataqua in Jamestown, NY.

 

We offer our condolences to Greg Babiarz and his family.  Greg’s mother passed away last month.

 

The  executive meetings are back at Ripples.  The next meeting is Tuesday October 29 at 7:00 pm.  Hope to see you there!

 

 

The Showspan show will be held from January 29 - February 3.  The show has been moved to Ford Field.  Mark these days in your calendar.  This is how we raise most of our money!  We need a volunteer to coordinate the work schedule.

 

We need to get ready for next year.  We have expanded the board to seven members.  We are looking for nominations for all positions.  The vote will be at the December meeting. 

 Anyone who would like to be next year’s tournament director must write a letter to Ron Van Gordon.  State why you should be director and how you would benefit the club. Applications are due no later than the November general meeting.  Any member should bring suggestions for next year’s tournaments to the upcoming meetings.

 

Some members were interested in new shirts and jackets.  We have 2 large shirts remaining.  They are $28.00.  Let Paul Sacks know at the meeting if you want a shirt. Bring money to the meeting if you purchased but have not paid for your clothing. We also have hats and patches available for sale.

 

Membership Drive.  If you know anyone interested in joining our club, let them know.  We want to get them on the roster by April.  They must attend 2 club functions.  We would vote on membership at the following meeting.

The club elected the following officers at the March meeting:

Following is our tentative schedule:

 

 

The club has 17 members.  There are 2 divisions:  smallmouth for kids under 11 and largemouth for kids 11 and older.

 

If you know any child who would like to join, contact Don Schemanske for details.  You can reach Don at 734-525-9408 or [email protected].  Membership dues are $10.00 per year.  If you can volunteer, come to the meeting or contact Don.

 

Kids will receive a 10% discount at Gander Mountain on the day of the meeting.

We will have another club meeting before year end.  We will advise the date later.
