Paul Sacks gave an update of last month’s presidents’ meeting. The Drop Shot Rig is still illegal in Michigan. The DNR has advised its local officers not to write a ticket if a person is targeting bass. Also, some large spinner baits are illegal. The issue is the hook gap size. Again, if you are targeting bass you should not get a ticket. If you catch a salmon it needs to be released immediately. Both of these issues involved salmon snagging. If stopped, you would want to be nice to the officer. Although bass fisherman should have no problems, legally they can write a ticket.
