MICHIGAN BASS BUSTERS OF OAKLAND COUNTY

APRIL 2001 NEWSLETTER

The general club meeting is set for Thursday April 12, 2001 at 7:30 p.m.. Location is Commissioners room A 1200 Telegraph road Pontiac, MI.

We want to welcome our two newest members. They are Lester McAllister and Mike Hagman.

Jonathan Oakes is maintaining our web site. The address is http://www.geocities.com/michiganbassbusters/. In the future he will e-mail all members, and we won’t mail out newsletters. You can e-mail Jonathan any information or pictures to [email protected].

Our first tournament is Sunday May 6th. You must pay for this tournament by the April meeting. If you can not attend, please contact Bill Head at 248-363-6366 or 810-217-7872. You can also arrange another member to bring it to the meeting. Everyone needs to turn in a copy of your B.A.S.S. Membership card and proof of boat insurance.

Please note our new tournament schedule. The regional tournament was changed. It conflicted with the state fish-off. The state fish-off is now August 3, 4, and 5. We can have 16 people fish the fish-off. Please let Don Schemanske if you are fishing. The Cass Lake tournament will start at 7:00 am. The Lower Detroit tournament is now on August 11. We have added another draw tournament. It is August 25 on Lake St. Clair. We have 8 tournaments, but only 7 will count. The Federation tournaments are still the same. They are June 2 & 3, July 21 & 22, and August 18 & 19.

Raffle tickets are due at the May meeting. Please contact Paul Fletcher for more tickets or arrangements to return the extra tickets and money 248-887-5761.

There is a sale/swap meet April 28th from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. At the Knights of Columbus Hall 150 Fair St. Plymouth, MI. Admission is $1.00. Sellers tables are available for $5.00 per table. Is there any interest for renting tables? The contact is Charlie Gabbeart 734-459-7896.

We discussed a few issues at the March executive meeting. The board recommends the following during tournaments. No cell phones calls - except for emergencies, and you can not use an underwater video camera. Another issue is Distribution of Team Club bonus money. The state fish-off team is now 5 people appointed by the team captain. If the club finishes 1st, how should this be distributed? The top 5 or the top 8?. These issues and any other tournament rules must be addressed by the April meeting.

I am updating the roster. Please fill out the form and bring to the meeting.
