| Quite possibly the most decorated member of unit FOXHOUND ever,Gray Fox is the only recorded member ever to be given the codename 'Fox',the units highest ranked codename. In his early days,he was a soldier assigned to many missions in Africa to help deal with local disputed and such. After extended assignment,he was recruited by unit FOXHOUND. After a series of missions,he was given one more. He was sent into the fortress Outer Heaven. After entering,he was taken hostage. He sent out a final message...'Metal Gear.' They sent in Solid Snake who defeated Metal Gear and rescued Fox. After that,he joined up with his former commander Big Boss and took a job as a mercenary in Zanzibar land. Fox fought with Snake hand to hand in a battle free of ideology,uncorrupted. Alas,he came out the loser and was mortally wounded. His near dead body was picked up and used by one Dr. Clark in a series of genetic experiments. He was then outfitted with a cybernetic suit to increase his physical abilities.
