The StarCraft Editing Patch MPQ Edition
***************************************

This is just an MPQ version of SCEP2. Not much has been updated, but thanks to
Quantum's MPQDraft, SCEP2 can now run on Windows XP and I suppose Windows 2000
and Windows NT. I've added a few questions and answers relating SCEP2 as well.
If you have any questions, please refer to this guide first then email me.
I will admit that this program doesn't do everything possible. =P. But it does
provide an easy and reliable way to create very fun and useful maps in Starcraft.

If you would like to do more things with SC editing (not just maps), check out other
programs available on the Net. Of most interest: SCMToolkit, MPQ2k, MPQDraft,
Arsenal 3, Stardraft, SCAIEdit 3 and ICE.

And the capabilities of SCEPMPQ:

- Place all possible hidden units in StarEdit*
	- Disruption Web and Dark Swarm (neutral)
	- Some Hero units (eg. Raszagal, Gerard DuGalle)
	- Nuclear Missles (use Ai script Junk Yard Dog for wacky effects)
	- Scanner Sweep
	- All types of eggs and larva
	- Doodads
	- Infoceptors and Scarabs*
	- Unused Units (Cargo Ship, Mercenary Gunship, Independent Starport)
	- Independent Command Center*
	- And more!.. I think
- Place units of all races for any player
- Grouped the new units into more organized folders
- Run the useful hidden AI scripts
	- Build Nuke
	- Share Visions ON/OFF**
	- Cast Recall at Location
	- Target Nuke at Location
	- Cast Disruption Web at Location
	- Set Junk Yard Dog (Roam Around)
	- Harass Location
- Set buildings as hallucinated (cannot hallucinate buildings in game)
- Place buildings anywhere (including installation tileset)
- Place unlimited units on a map (except when the string limit has been reached)
- Set upgrades to level 255

* Interceptors and Scarabs (subunits) don't appear in game
Some buildings appear half done in the editor but appear OK in game
Independent Command Center will crash SC when you try to look at it in a game

Cannot use triggers which manipulate the new units. I have included a patch
[newunitstrig.exe] that allows a map to create these units. But you need to run
this patch everytime you want to play a map that has these triggers.

** Share Visions AI Scripts doesn't allow you to see their units but it lets them
see yours. That includes cloaked and burrowed units.

Questions
*********

Step by step for running SCEPMPQ
********************************
1) Have Starcraft and Broodwar installed properly.
2) Install the v1.08 patch. You can d/l it from blizzard.com
3) Unzip the files from SCEPMPQ.zip into any directory you like.
4) Go to the directory you unzipped to and look for SCEPMPQ.exe. Run it.
5) The Starcraft Campaign Editor should start. Make your map and save it.
6) Exit Staredit, SCEPMPQ will automatically close.
7) Run Starcraft WITHOUT running SCEPMPQ.exe and play the map.

Requirements for Arbiter Recall
*******************************
(not all are needed, but just to be sure...)
* an arbiter (really, now?)
* the spell recall researched. this can be done through the player settings.
* enough energy to cast the recall
* use the script at the location which you want recall cast. ie. the place with the
  units you wanna take

Requirements for Nuking
***********************
(not all are needed, but just to be sure...)
* a ghost
* have nuking allowed
* build nuke at Nuke Silo (can use AI script)
* use the script at the location which you want to nuke

How to do 255 upgrades
**********************
* Go to the Player Settings options in StarEdit after loading it with SCEP2
* Click on the Upgrades tab.
* On the upgrade box you want, look for an up and down arrow next to the number.
* Hold down the up button until it reaches 255.

How to avoid map crashes
************************
* Make sure you don't have the unit 'Independent Command Centre' on the map.
* Don't place units too close to the edge of the map. Make sure the units have no bits
  sticking out of the borders.
* Don't do wacky stuff (like 20 units on top of each other, don't even know if that's
  possible). It might stuff up.

About newunitstrig.exe
**********************
Because the so called 'new' units are hidden by Starcraft, all I have done is enabled
its use with Staredit. Thus they appear inside the game. However, because these
units were not fully functional to start off with, the Starcraft engine doesn't
recognise triggers which relate to these units. Therefore, if you have a trigger which
manipulates these new units. eg. Kill All Raszagal, it won't work. You need a patch
like NewUnitsTrig to play these maps. However, since these maps won't be compatible
with Battle.Net, you probably won't see any. If you wish to create a Single Player
experience which utilises the new units, you can distribute this patch with your map.
Otherwise, just don't worry about it.

Thanks To:
- Camelot Systems
- All the sites which distributed SCEP2
- All those emerald patches especially the original author
- Everyone who emailed me, your comments are appreciated
- The few (HIM2000 hint hint) who just took my cwad and redistributed it as their own
  (no actually, you suck)
