| NOTES: I-77 in Charlotte, NC is also known as the Bill Lee Freeway. A small section south of the city is called the General Younts Expressway. The West Virginia Turnpike is signed as I-77 for its entire length. When I-77 and I-81 merge in Virginia, you are going north on one route and south on the other. The junction between I-77 and I-85 in Charlotte is a strange configuration. When I-77 crosses over I-85, the northbound lanes on I-77 are to the west of the southbound lanes. Likewise, southbound I-77 is to the east of northbound. The travel lanes return to their proper positions north and south of this interchange. |
