From Lansing to Port Huron, MI, I-69 is an east-west route. This is a violation of the numbering scheme regarding odd-numbered routes.
I-69 is currently slated to extend south of Indianapolis towards Mexico. In Texas, it could follow one of three routes: to Laredo (via US 59), McAllen (via US 281) or Brownsville (via US 77). Two of these routes meet in Victoria, TX, where I-69 will use the US 59 corridor to go into Houston.
Construction has begun on a new outer loop around Memphis, called I-269.
