Although Chicago is not on I-65's routing, it is the obvious destination for the highway's northbound travelers, as I-65 feeds traffic into I-90 at Gary, IN (which in turn leads into Chicago via the Chicago Skyway).
I-65 is known as Auto Alley because some major automotive plants are located within a short driving distance from it, including General Motors' Saturn plant in Spring Hill, TN, south of Nashville. The most famous one is another GM plant, in Bowling Green, KY. It manufactures the Chevrolet Corvette sports car and the Cadillac XLR luxury roadster.
