STATES TRAVERSED: Ohio Pennsylvania New Jersey (PART 1/PART 2) |
|||
| NOTES: Originally, this road was called I-80S. It was renamed I-76 to commemorate the year 1776, when the Declaration of Independence was signed in Philadelphia. In Philly, I-76 ran on the Vine Street Expressway, while its loop route, I-676, ran on the Schuylkill Expressway. The two freeways traded numbers, so the reverse is true. It would be nice if they extended the I-76 designation to Atlantic City, since I-76 is reachable from the Atlantic City Expressway via NJ 42 (the North-South Freeway). Interstate 476 is the nation's longest 3di, linking Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to the Philadelphia suburbs. |
