Mrs. Mary Thelen, of Lake George, Killed at Belgrade on Thursday
Was Thrown From Platform of Depot Under Wheels of SOO Flyer
Special to the Times:
Lake George, July 17- Mrs. Mary Thelen was killed yesterday in Belgrade by the east bound flyer. She left here for Belgrade with the intention to visit with her son, Joseph, at White Earth, and was standing on the platform by the depot when the fast train from the west came along at a speed of from 40 to 50 miles an hour. The force of the train and the wind from the west threw her off the platform and under the wheels of the moving train. She was killed instantly. Mrs. Thelen was 64 years old. She leaves nine children to mourn her untimely death. They are John, in Melrose; Joseph, White Earth; Jacob, Hubert and Martin, of this town; Mrs. Christ. Seifermann of Spring Hill; Mrs. Peter Seifermann, of Spring Lake, Alberta; Mrs. Peter Kirkes, and Anna, who has her home with her brother at White Earth. Martin Thelen, her husband, died here about 20 years ago. The family have had their home here ever since."

The 1870 Stearns Co. Census lists a Mary Thelen.
