Dubuque County, Iowa, County Records, Marriage Records, 1889-1903, Microfilm #1035403, Dub. 013, Vol. 5, pg. 209, Nicholas Stemper and Caroline Claus, lists witnesses as Henry Stemper and Anna Claus. Anna is believed to be the sister of Caroline. Henry could be the father or possibly a brother of Nicholas.
