Notes for John "Jack" L. Kennedy
John had 7 grandchildren in 1954. He died after a 3 year fight with cancer at the Ft. Snelling Veterans Hospital. His funeral was held at the Nativity Church and he was buried in Resurection Cemetery in St. Paul. He retired in 1944 from the Kennedy Brothers Fruit Company after working for this family business for 30 years.
Obituary in St. Paul Pioneer Press Newspaper, Monday Oct. 18, 1954:
"John L. Kennedy Dies; Funeral Wednesday
John L. Kennedy, 62, of 387 Macalester, died Sunday at the Ft. Snelling Veteran hospital of cancer after three years' illness. Services will be at 9 a. m. Wednesday in Nativity Catholic church, Prior and Stanford. Burial will be in Resurrection cemetery. A native of Morton, Minn., Mr. Kennedy was a St. Paul resident 42 years and was associated with the Kennedy Brothers Fruit Co., 30 years until he retired in 1944.
Survivors include his wife, Agnes; a daughter, Mrs. John Giel; a son, John G.; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Thomas and A. D., and a sister, Irene, all of St. Paul. "
