Notes for Thomas Francis Sr. Kennedy

Notes from family:
He lived in Morton, Minnesota as a child, and had many fond memories of being "in the frontier". He told his grandchildren and great grandchildren the storm of the time he went into town with his father when he was about three years of age. He and his father went on their wagon to the general store. His father (John D. Kennedy) went into the store and left Tom outside on the wagon. When John came out of the store, Tom was gone! He looked all over for him and finally went back to the house to tell his wife (Bridget Glynn/Glenn) that Tom was missing. They were both frantic and later an Indian rode up to their house on horseback and motioned for them to follow him. THe Kennedy's did and they were led out of town to the Indian reservation, where they found Tom dressed up as an Indian child and playing with the other Indian children. The Indians had done this as a practical joke, but, as the story goes, Bridget did not think it was funny at all! He also talked of his job harvesting blocks of ice from area lakes to put in "cool barns" when he was a teenanger. The settlers used to take sections of the winter harvest ice in this shed during the hot Minnesota summers to refrigerate food, etc. He lived to be 96 years old. He had a very sharp wit and great Irish humor until the end of his life. His only sign of aging was being in a wheel chair around the last 5 years of his life. Thomas was a co-owner of Globe Business College in St. Paul, Minnesota.
