Hi there. It's Saturday night - Dave & Dominic are down at the Tiger game (Dominic's birthday present from us - 4 rows behind the dugout), the girls are asleep in bed & I'm enjoying a glass of wine while I listen to the BoDeans.
They started the construction last weekend, right in the middle of my crazy Troy Daze/EthniCity Festival extravaganza. We are adding a bedroom (kid size) over our garage. The girls have shared a room for many years now, and it's just getting too crowded. We love our neighborhood too much to move (& the economy is so bad, I don't think we'd be able to sell). This is going to be good -- it's just a bedroom. We added a master bath to our room a couple years back; we just need another bedroom so that each kid has his/her own space. For my sanity. It's going quick, with no plumbing needs - it’s just a frame, some drywall & closet doors. They did most of the messy work before having to cut into the house. The picture above was taken when the whole family climbed out of Dominic's bedroom window, walked across the roof & into the new bedroom. The kids thought that was the coolest.
Also last weekend, we caught up with Dave's high school sweetheart, Julie. She, her daughter, mom & sister-in-law were in Troy for a shopping weekend. We met them for dinner. Julie is as nice as Dave has always described her. I thought it might be weird - because of their history, but it wasn't at all. Life's strange that way - people are just people. We had a great time and I'm really glad I got a chance to meet her.
Dave's mom got some good news this week. She had her PET scan on Monday and the test showed the cancer is contained. She will still have to go through chemo and had a port implanted yesterday. The overall outlook is bright. She has an appointment at UM in a couple weeks for a second opinion regarding her chemo protocol. I have only good things to say about UM doctors.... I’m sure it will all be ok.
We are in a routine now. Things are moving along. My birthday is in a couple weeks; I think I'm going to be 38. Yikes -- I'm old. Most of my girlfriends are turning 40 in 2008, and we're planning a trip together. We can't decide where to go.... any ideas? I really need a long weekend with the girls, I'm thinking tropical....
Well, I should go check on the girls...Have a stellar Sunday & great week. Always, Michelle
