Entry for August 1, 2007

August is here. Last weekend we were camping with my AQ friends & families (above are most all of the girls -this year we added Jen McCaffrey). It was a blast - there were about 20 kids and the weather was absolutely awesome. It's a yearly tradition now, and I'm so glad to keep such special friendships.

Yesterday I visited UofM for my year check-up. It was quite uneventful. My new congenital heart doctor, Dr. Cotts (he replaced Dr. Kovach), is the same age as me - which is weird. He's nice and experienced with adult patients. The piggie valve looked incredible in my echo images. That was pretty cool. The only thing to do is continue taking good care of myself - exercise & eating right, and watching the valve to see when it needs to be replaced. Dr. Cotts said I don't need to be seen yearly - I told him I’d see him each year because I need the reassurance that I'm doing ok. It wouldn't hurt my feelings if all the fear and anxiety of 2006 became a faded memory; I am looking toward a future of health.

Other things in life are good. The kids are doing well - still catching up on missed sleep from our camping trip. This weekend is filled with birthday parties, Troy Baseball Boosters (Dom's little league) at the Tigers Game, and I promised Marisa I'd take her to the movies...

Have a wonderful first day of August. Keep cool & enjoy...
