Hi there. We're home again. Florida was wonderful. We had a great time in St. Pete with Dave's parents and then the seven of us traveled to Orlando and enjoyed a few days at Disney. The kids had an awesome time, and despite my hesitation about the over-commercialization of WDW - I have to say, I had a great time, too. Renting a condo in Orlando was a great idea. We took mid afternoon breaks from the park - the kids swam in our own personal pool while I made lunch, we rested and then we went back to the park for evening activities. It was also great spending time with Mom and Dad Haight. They were very hospitable and flexible with whatever we wanted to do. Grandpa took Dom fishing in the Gulf on Friday- I think that became the highlight of his trip. Natalie really loved the teacup ride at Magic Kingdom (we went twice, one right after the other – I thought I was going to lose my breakfast…) and Marisa can't quite decide her favorite part of the trip. For me, it was great just to get away - enjoy the sunshine, and relax knowing how much better things are this year at this time vs. last year at this time.
Tomorrow we return to school and work. I'm so glad March is right around the corner – this “Michigan winter” stuff is getting old. It is so grey here right now. I can see how easily people get depressed this time of year. I keep reminding myself soon it will be spring and the sun will shine here, too.
We came home to some sad news. My dear friend Joanne, who lives here in our neighborhood, lost her dad last week. Visitation was this afternoon in Ferndale, and the funeral will be tomorrow morning. It is strange to have another friend lose a parent within two weeks of each other. I didn’t think I was old enough to be reaching that point in life. It seems we were just having weddings and baby showers. Joanne seems to be doing well; she is a strong soul with a very compassionate heart. Please keep her family in your prayers.
Have a wonderful week. God bless, Michelle
